Perhaps there is some problem in in the Bengali font-set-up, as a result of which it is illegible. Will you please look at the matter? Dipankar Chakrabarti for aneek

Thanks for letting us know your concern. Please try the following solution and let us know if it solves the font problem on your pc.

      1. For MAC OSX/LINUX
Download mac-specific or generic Unicode Bangla fonts (SolaimanLipi and Rupali) from http://ekushey.org/?page/otf-bangla-fonts to read Bangla texts on Mozilla Firefox or Safari browsers. Install the font (see section 3).

      2. For WINDOWS XP

Download Unicode Bangla fonts from the web (from http://ekushey.org/?page/otf-bangla-fonts) and install them on your operating system.

Install Bangla support on your browser. [On Internet Explorer 6: Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Languages, and add Bengali as a language. On Firefox 1.5: Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Edit Languages…, and add Bengali as a language.]

Go to your browser’s “view” menu and set the “character encoding” or “encoding” feature to: Unicode (UTF-8).

Set your favorite Bangla Unicode font as default font for your browser.
[For Internet Explorer 6: Go to Tools–>Internet options–>Fonts, choose Bengali from the Language Script pulldown menu and select from one of the available Bangla fonts in your system. For Firefox 1.5: Go to Tools -> Options -> Content tab -> Advanced… in the Fonts and colors section. In the pop up window titled “Fonts”, select Bengali from the “Fonts for:” pulldown Menu and set a Bengali font of your choice.

      3. Installing a font:

Use the instructions on http://www.dafont.com/faq.php#win to install any font on your system. Sometimes relaunching of the browser or rebooting of your system might be necessary after this step.

  2. Anindya Sen says:

“kurnish” – is this a good word for Salute? the valor of the word is somewhat lost, as the word immediately reflects a darbar-i setting where the obedient subservients pay their homage to the power. ‘saalam’ is a better and time tested one, as this has earned lot of struggling content in last century . .
